Taylor Monks, CEO BasicBlock
Blockchain, you’ve probably heard about it, but chances are you don’t understand what it is. The Rotary 14 program on November 20 will feature Taylor Monks, the CEO of a Nebraska startup company, BasicBlock, that is specializing in applying Blockchain to the shipping and transportation world. Blockchain is simply a way of distributing digital information over the internet using a highly secure encrypted system. The information can be anything from financial transactions such as Bitcoin or payments through the internet to real estate records, government data, stock trading, even lists of goods being sent by truck from Omaha to Miami and beyond. Monks is an international business graduate of Nebraska Wesleyan University. In his presentation Tuesday, he’ll help us understand how Blockchain data transfer works and how he is applying this new system through a startup business.
