Last week at Rotary, Army Corporal Matthew Alexander was honored as Paul Harris Fellow for his service and sacrifice for our country. His wife Kara Alexander joined us live from Gretna, NE, and digitally received the award from Gen. Roger Lempke. Big thanks to the In-Club Celebrations Committee chaired by Tim Kenny for an outstanding Memorial Day celebration.
Thank you for the opportunity and humbling honor of coming alongside such a great organization to celebrate Memorial Day and honor Matthew Alexander’s service and sacrifice.
I am currently serving as director of the Navy operations center in the Pentagon. Today as we honor and remember those who have gone before us, the US Navy and all the services continue to serve America and the world. You should be very proud of what your armed forces are doing in response to the global pandemic.
I can’t thank the Rotary enough for what you do - I got a glimpse of it while visiting elementary school kids with you in Lincoln on one of my many visits sponsored by the Big Red Sub Club, and it is all the more obvious now.
From Corporal Matthew Alexander’s honorable service in the Army in Iraq, and Kara’s music outreach honoring Matthew Alexander, it is abundantly obvious how they epitomize the Rotary club’s ‘Service Above Self’.
Thank you for the opportunity to be here to honor these heroes. Read more.
