Speaker's Bio Leirion Gaylor Baird was elected the 52nd mayor of Lincoln, Nebraska on May 2019. Previously, Mayor Gaylor Baird served for six years as a member of the City Council and six years as a Lincoln/Lancaster County Planning Commissioner. Her career includes experience as a management consultant, fiscal and policy analyst, and Boys and Girls Club Director. She currently serves on the Lincoln Community Foundation Board of Directors, the University of Nebraska President’s Advisory Council, and Board of Trustees for Mourning Hope. The mayor earned her B.A. from Yale College magna cum laude with Distinction in the History major and holds a Master’s degree in Comparative Social Research from the University of Oxford. She and her husband, Scott, have three children - who, upon their mother’s election as mayor, were deeply disappointed to learn that she does not get to tell Steve Joel when to call snow days.

Are you interested in getting in the race for perfect attendance? It's easy and highly doable. TIPS: 1) Attend our weekly meetings, 2) If you miss our weekly meeting, watch our Facebook Live Streaming and get a make up credit, 3) Attend a committee meeting, 4) Attend any of our club activities, 5) Watch out for attendance credits that won't expire from our club big events, such as Nebraskan of the Year, Rise.Shine.Give, and Salute to Business, 6) Attend a nearby Rotary Club and get makeup credit, 7) Meet up with 3 or more Rotarians to talk about anything under the heat of the sun for Rotary, 8) Go online and do online makeup.
RI Standard: Every 30 minutes to 1 hour of Rotary work is equivalent to 1 attendance credit. Questions, please contact Allen Beermann.

We know it's not even October yet, but we could help the kids at Everett Elementary celebrate when the time comes. We could use donations of candy and school supplies to fill their goodie bags. Grab some candy or supplies and bring them to our next meeting. Some supply suggestions include Elmer's glue, scotch tape, packets of pencils, small packets of crayons, pads of paper. Contact IPP Randy Bretz for your donations.
Our Immediate Past President Randy Bretz and Jan Bretz are helping a woman from Nigeria who is a graduate student at UNL set up her apartment so her husband and 3 children can join her. Please review this list and consider donating them to Margaret Okojokwu. Contact Randy to arrange donations. rgbretz@gmail.com
