It's our Holiday Luncheon!

This Tuesday is our annual Holiday Party! Invite your family and friends to join you and experience a holiday luncheon with Rotarians. It's the usual lunch price but with a fabulous menu including a spiked eggnog! Click here for a visual of our feast this week. Our In-Club Celebrations Chair Nancy Finken and her committee have been hard at work planning our holiday celebration, so don't miss it.
It's Election Time at Rotary #14
It's Board election time at Rotary #14 and we encourage every member to cast their vote. This year, we have eight highly dedicated and competent Rotarians who went through vetting by the Nominating Committee led by President-Elect Mailani Veney. The top 4 vote-getters will be our new Board members serving their term for two years, 2019-2021. The new Board members will serve alongside second termers: Mark Feit, Justin Kalemkiarian, Leslie Levy, and Chuck Schroeder. To protect the sanctity of your vote, we are using a secure electronic voting system. CLICK HERE to vote. Voting will be closed by December 21st, 6 PM. If you prefer, we have iPads available for you to use this week at Rotary. Questions, please contact President-Elect Mailani.
Welcome Newest Member

Welcome to Rotary, Bethany!

Last week, Gina Cotton introduced our newest member Bethany Arnold. Bethany and her husband Brendan are the proud parents of two children, Kate and Dawson. She loves to spend time with her family, traveling, attending Husker and athletic events and concerts. She also has a dog named Andre who likes to "pull" her down the road as she takes him for a run. She is originally from Holdrege, NE, where she watched her dad help people every day build wealth and reach their financial goals. Bethany earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and her doctorate in occupational therapy at Creighton University. She practiced therapy for seven years and after much consideration, decided to change her career focus to Edward Jones, were she has found not a job or a career but a life passion. She still helps people, but instead of meeting physical goals, she helps them meet financial goals. Bethany is also active in Junior Achievement, Defy Ventures, Lincoln Marathon, Project Connect, and 100's of Women Who Care.

Please be sure to introduce yourself and welcome Bethany to Rotary.

Bell Ringing Raised $3,089.20
Our recent Bell Ringing raised a total of $3,089.20 for the Salvation Army. Per Mark Anderson, the funds will go to the Tree of Lights campaign which meets the needs not only at Christmas time but throughout the year in Lincoln. Special thanks to Project Chair Ryan Dobesh for coordinating this year's bell ringing. Big thanks to all the volunteers! Here's a screenshot from President Randy's video with Tammy Ward.

Dinner for a Cause Raised $1,000
Past President Mark Stephens hosted his annual dinner to raise funds to help eradicate polio. Rotarians in attendance were Jennifer Brinkman, John Zimmer, Angela Boule, President Bretz, Gail McNair, and the host Mark Stephens. Thank you Rotarians for all your generous donations! Below is a picture from the fabulous dinner.

We had several announcements. Scott Larson announced in honor of his grandmother Judith Johnson's 109th birthday (December 13th). Judith was born in North Branch, Minnesota in 1909 and worked as a maid for the Crosby family of Minneapolis (one of the families who formed General Mills) during the Great Depression before marrying a dairy farmer near her hometown.  She was 100 years old when she sold her home in Minneapolis and now resides at a nursing facility in Chisago City, Minnesota.  Scott gave $109 to our club's service fund in honor of her birthday.

New Way of Welcoming our Red Badge Members
Recently, President Bretz approved a new way of welcoming our new members by hosting them during our weekly meetings. Last week, Past President Mark Stephens served as host to our Red Badge members. We observed that not all Red Badge members were able to sit at the reserved table. This week, we will have two reserved tables for Red Badge members and Past Presidents Liz Koop, and Mike Wortman will be hosts. Everyone, please come to the Red Badge tables, introduce yourself and welcome our new members.
Share Your International Minute
Club 14 Rotarians who are originally from countries outside the USA or who have lived outside the USA for extended periods are asked to please identify themselves to the World Community Fellowship and Service Committee (WCFS). The Committee is seeking Club 14 volunteers to deliver an “International Minute” every month or so. The purpose of this announcement would be not only to get better acquainted with given Rotarian but also promote the benefits of international experiences and to acknowledge how international experiences help to promote the mission of Rotary and increase world peace and understanding.  Interested Rotarians with international experience please email or text Priscilla Henkelmann, Chair of WCFS Committee.  (402) 304-2529; phenk57@yahoo.com
