Meghan is the Director, at Spring Creek Prairie with a strong background in natural resource conservation and collaboration. Her professional experience includes eight years as the Coordinator of the Lower Platte River Corridor Alliance, a stakeholder-driven partnership aimed at protecting the critical resources of the Lower Platte River. Most recently with UNL Extension, she served as the Domestic Water/Wastewater Management Educator where she focused on the protection of Nebraska’s water resources.

Mailani Veney is Outstanding Rotary Club President
Mailani Veney, immediate Past President of the Rotary Club of Lincoln was recognized as Rotary District 5650 Outstanding President by PDG Mick McKinley at the recently concluded Rotary District Conference. 
 
Another big award was given to the Rotary Club of Lincoln as the Outstanding Large Club in District 5650. We were also recognized for our international project in the Dominican Republic in providing access to rehabilitation services.

Welcome Newest Rotarian Kelsi Anderson
Kelsi received her BS in Biology from North Park University. After working for 2 years at Northwestern University studying Alzheimer's Disease, she began graduate school at UNMC and graduated with her PhD in Microbiology in 2008. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Microbiology at the University of Michigan. After a year and a half there, Kelsi realized that teaching and working with students were her passion and began teaching at Concordia University Ann Arbor in the fall of 2010. In July 2016, she moved back to Lincoln and started working at Bryan College of Health Sciences as the Biomedical Sciences Program Director.  In January 2018, she became the Provost of Bryan College of Health Sciences.
 
She has been married for 18 years to husband Dirk. They have a daughter, Sydney, who is 8. They love to spend as much time as they can outdoors exploring, hiking, swimming, building snowmen, etc. She also like watching movies, reality TV, eating, attempting Pinterest projects, and spending time with good friends.

Welcome Newest Rotarian Maggie Schiefen
Maggie Schiefen recently joined the law firm of Enterprise Legal Studio in Lincoln as a Principal Attorney with over 25 years’ experience in all aspects of employment and corporate law. She has spent half of her career in private law practice and has served in executive leadership roles, including 12 years with Applebee’s franchisees, most recently as Chief Administrative Officer for the second largest franchisee (10,000 employees).
 
Maggie is active in the Nebraska Bar Association Employment Law Section and has served on the City of Lincoln Personnel Board since 2003.  She has two grown daughters, one living in Lincoln and one in Los Angeles and has two small grandchildren.

Last Week at Rotary
Last week at Rotary President Eric Drumheller presided the meeting. Our virtual greeter was Brooke Goedert, Secretary was Morrie Enders, and our virtual host was Ryan Dobesh. Our speaker was District Governor Roxy Orr who took part of a panel conversation that included Past District Governors from our club: Art Knox, Sharon Wherry, and Jim Griesen.. We welcomed newest Rotarian Kelsi Anderson sponsored by Jim Griesen. In International Aloha, Robert Wesener provided an update about COVID-19 in Australia. President Eric congratulated Michelle Venter on her engagement. Announcement about Randy Bretz collecting stories about a teacher who had an impact on you.  These will be used to help celebrate the club’s $200,000 donation, in honor of our 110th anniversary, to help refurbish of the Cascade Fountain (also knows as the Teachers Fountain) at South 27 Street and Capitol Parkway. Secretary Morrie hosted first reading for Michele Tilley.
