John Zimmer is Paul Harris Fellow
On June 9th, The Rotary Foundation (TRF) Chair Scott Larson recognized John Zimmer as Paul Harris Fellow. John works at Cline Williams Wright Johnson & Oldfather. He joined Rotary 14 in 2017. His contribution of $1,000 to TRF will help in eradicating polio and support TRF's priorities in fighting disease, providing clean water, supporting education, and saving mothers and children through maternal health.

Math Miller Award: Alicia Davis

Last week, Chair Martin Massengale awarded Alicia Davis as the recipient of the 2020 Don Miller Math Award. Alicia Davis has taught mathematics at Scott Middle School since 2013. She is the secretary of the Nebraska Association of Teachers of Mathematics.
 
Alicia has a B.A. in mathematics and mathematics education from Hastings College, an M.A. in educational administration from UNK and a M.A.T. with an emphasis in mathematics from UNL. She is also a National Board Certified Teacher in early adolescent mathematics and has received the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching.

Are you interested in getting into the race for perfect attendance? It got easier despite the virus pandemic. Just download the Zoom app on your mobile device or the desktop Zoom client on your computer and conveniently hop into our weekly virtual meetings. If the Tuesday noon meeting will not work, join one or all of our Virtual Coffee, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM, Mon-Wed-Friday. Or if three or more Rotarians gather virtually, you get an attendance credit as well.
 
RI Standard: Every 30 minutes to 1 hour of Rotary meeting or committee work is equivalent to 1 attendance credit. Questions, please contact Allen Beermann at (402) 432-8848.

Last Week at Rotary
Last week at Rotary, President Mailani Veney presided the meeting.  Randy Hawthorne was Secretary, Anna Hernoud was our online grreeter, and meeting host was Trip Synder. Yolanda Hoffman introduced our International Aloha guest James Lapage from the UK. Kana Leia Veney announced the new Rotary Anti-Trafficking eClub. First readings and second readings took place for proposed Rotary members. Dr. Martin Massengale awarded Alicia Davis the Miller Math award. Secretary Randy welcomed new Rotarians in 2020. Lorie Cook-Benjamin introduced the newest member Jennifer Bossard from Doane college. Pres.-Elect Eric presented the book honorarium with the following donations; Don Kucera for Cavett Elementary and Regina Werum, for Irving Middle School. Pres. Mailani introduced speaker John Wirtz who presented on Hudl - The Next 5 Years.
Game Changer Contest Winner for May
TEAM 13. Congratulations to team 13 for winning the Game Changer contest for the month of May. The main players were Bill Michener and Jim Smith. The Game Changer is a monthly contest based on the number of guests and new members you bring to Rotary, including guests at Virtual Coffee. For more information, click here.
