Recently, Bruce Rippeteau introduced our newest member, Barbara Baier. She has served for more than 15 years on the Lincoln Board of Education and has worked for the City of Lincoln, Nebraska as a Grants Administrator for Finance Department. She has been writing grants for 20 years, raising between $3.7 to $10.0 million annually, including hiring new firefighter-paramedics, securing fire apparatus, StarTran CNG and electric transit buses and trolleys, fundraising for environmental preservation projects, park/playground improvements, water security, and more.

Just download the Zoom app on your mobile device or the desktop Zoom client on your computer and conveniently hop into our weekly virtual meetings. If the Tuesday noon meeting will not work, join one or all of our Virtual Coffee, 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM, Mon-Wed-Friday. Or if three or more Rotarians gather virtually, you get an attendance credit as well.

Recently, Gathering Place Chair Kristin Yates shared with the club leadership that there is a significant increase of people to be served at the Gathering Place due to the COVID-19 crisis. Rotarians are making a difference in helping alleviate the effects of coronavirus in our immediate community. In a special board meeting, the Rotary 14 Board voted to give financially on behalf of our club to the Lincoln Community Foundation’s COVID-19 Response Fund. Our contribution will be matched thus doubling the positive impact we have. We are encouraging Rotarians to donate online to the Rotary 14 Foundation. Click here, to donate. Recently, President Mailani Veney authorized the formation of Rotary 14 COVID-19 Task Force headed by current Rotary 14 Committee Chair and Grand Island Rotary Past President Todd Crawford. Last week at Rotary Mailani Veney presided the meeting, Randy Hawthorne was secretary, meeting host was Ryan Dobesh. Our speaker was Dr. Bob Rauner, the President of Partnership for a Healthy Lincoln and Chief Medical Officer of OneHealth Nebraska ACO. During International Aloha we had RYE Alum Mary Heng from South Korea and Regina Werum from Germany. Allen Beermann recognized new achievers for perfect attendance. Bruce Rippeteau introduced new member Barb Baier. Lastly, Todd Crawford reminded everyone to donate to the Rotary 14 COVID-19 Response Fund.
