Presentation: The Fake Death and Final Decades of Howard Hughes

Speaker Bio: Major General (Retired) Mark Musick retired from the military in 2008 at the rank of Major General. In 2002 Mark met Eva McLelland who told him a secret which she had not divulged to anyone, however since her husband of 31 years had just died it was time to tell someone. Her story consisted of the ingredients of fabulous wealth, a reclusive man unable to escape his famous life, assistance from the CIA providing an alternate identity, and a loving wife who knew how to keep a secret. The first book “Boxes, The Secret Life of Howard Hughes” was released in 2010. During the last six years additional information continued to come forward to confirm Eva’s wild story. The second book is now published. Learn about the details of how Howard Hughes pulled the wool over the eyes of the public and lived his last 25 years with the woman he loved finally dying in Nov. 2001.
International Picnic, Sept 8th
Click here to volunteer for the international picnic. Lincoln and the nearby communities are home to many institutions of higher learning which attract students from around the world. Each year Rotary #14 hosts a picnic for international students to create an opportunity to spread goodwill between our families and the students. This video will give you a look at the run we have at the picnic. Of course, being the Cornhusker State, we include some traditional corn-on-the-cob and other American picnic menu items along with a time of fellowship and games. The institutions help coordinate this event and Rotary #14 members provide gift bags and door prizes to help welcome these students to Nebraska.

This year's picnic is on Sunday, Sept. 8th, 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM at Holmes Lake Park for the international students attending colleges and universities in the area. This is the 15th year that Rotary 14 has welcomed these students who come from dozens of countries throughout the world. We need volunteers, click here to volunteer.

Congratulations Phil Mullin of Garner Industries
Rotary 14 congratulates our own Phil Mullin, owner of Garner Industries, recently awarded "Manufacturer of the Year" by Lincoln Chamber of Commerce.
Garner Industries is a diverse manufacturing company with a 65-year history. Established in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1953 as a small tool and die company, today Garner employs more than 130 individuals in its 115,000-square foot facility.

Garner specializes in plastic injection molding of small to medium sized parts, short to medium run precision machining of metals and plastics, custom tool building and wire EDM services. Garner’s work on an automated grain bin level monitoring system in the mid-1960s gave birth to its subsidiary company, BinMaster Level Controls, a now-leading manufacturer of point and continuous level indicators and inventory management systems used for monitoring the level of bulk solids or liquids in bins, tanks, silos, hoppers, and stockpiles. Garner Industries is certified to ISO 9001 quality management systems - requirements.
