Presentation: Ripple Effects of Mentoring

Tom Osborne was the head coach of the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 1973-1997, and was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1999 in recognition of his successful coaching career with 13 conference titles and 3 national championships. Coach Osborne was elected to Congress in 2000, serving three terms (2001-2007) representing Nebraska's third district, and then returned to the University of Nebraska to serve as athletic director from 2007-2013. Along with his wife, Nancy, Coach Osborne co-founded the TeamMates organization in 1991, matching 22 Husker football players as mentors with Lincoln middle school students. TeamMates now reaches thousands of students throughout the Midwest every year.
