Healthy Survival in the COVID-19 ClimateSummary: Ann will share uplifting comments about ways to stay active during this time of social/physical distancing and help us understand how a small downtown Lincoln business like Lincoln Running Co. is adapting to COVID-19.
In addition to our weekly speaker, we will have special guests from Germany, India, Italy, and Spain. It will be great to hear experiences and updates amidst COVID-19 from these countries. You don't want to miss this meeting.
Recently, President Mailani Veney authorized the formation of Rotary 14 COVID-19 Task Force headed by current Rotary 14 Committee Chair and Grand Island Rotary Past President Todd Crawford. Currently, the Task Force is asking for volunteers whose main task is to be available to make grocery runs or other assistance as needed by fellow Rotarians during COVID-19 pandemic. Last week, Sharon Wherry introduced our newest member, Pat Stear. A cum laude graduate of Doane College, she has been a music and a languages teacher and interpreter. (French, Spanish, two kinds of Sign Language and can greet folks in about 20 other languages). She initiated and has been active with Contra Dance of Lincoln and performed with the University of Nebraska International Folk Dancers. Pat has nine children, and six grandchildren.
Before college, she served as a Rotary Exchange Student in Concepcion, Tucuman, Argentina. She had the opportunity to travel to 19 cities in 21 days with Felix Kitroser who later became the International President of Rotary and his wife, Sarita. A sister from her last host family, Ana Lia Martinez, returned to live with Pat for a year and visited Rotary Club 14 since her dad, Bob Stear, was a member. Pat wants to support Rotary and the exchange program however she can.

Sharon Wherry introduced another member last week, Al Meder. Al was born in New Zealand and came to the US in 1965 He holds degrees from NZ and US Universities. He worked at Procter & Gamble and Amway before relocating to Lincoln in 1984 when he purchased Pure Water Inc. The company was reorganized in 2004 as Pure & Secure LLC. Located at Air Park they manufacture water distillers for residential, commercial and government customers world-wide,including US Embassies globally, U.S. Coast Guard, and U.S. Border and Immigration.
Al was also a member of Club 14 for 20+ years and was an exchange student which led him to help organize the International Student Picnic for our club.

Last week at Rotary Mailani Veney presided the meeting, Randy Bretz was the meeting host, program host was Christie Weston, and online greeters/tech support were Eric Drumheller, Yolanda Hoffman, Trip Snyder, and Dalton Brannen. The program was "All About Rotary #14: Making an Impact with Service Above Self"and how to get involved with various areas of our club. Scott Larson recognized Mark Stephens as Paul Harris Fellow +2. Todd Crawford announced the launch of Rotary Covid-19 Task Force. President Mailani discussed the Rotary virtual coffee & daily chat. Sharon Wherry introduced new members: Pat Stear and Al Meder.
