Rotary #14 Received the Prestigious RI Presidential Citation
Recently, Immediate Past District Governor Tom Cardwell presented the coveted Rotary International Presidential Citation Award to Lincoln Rotary #14 for Rotary Year 2017-18. The award is in recognition of our club's excellent performance in the areas of membership engagement, Rotary Foundation giving, and service to the community. Our club also received a Certificate of Appreciation from The Rotary Foundation for our contributions to End Polio Now. The awards were accepted by Immediate Past President Jennifer Brinkman. Congratulations! Well done everyone!

The Rotary Foundation
We still have five months to contribute to the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International. Your donation comes back to us in three years in the form of Global and District grants for projects such as the cancer screening and treatment, and access to rehabilitation services both projects in the Dominican Republic, our Tree Planting in Lincoln and the Anti-Human Trafficking project in our district. Your donation goes around the world to promote literacy, fight disease, and encourage peace.   Every Rotarian Every Year asks that you consider a gift of at least $100 to the Rotary Foundation.

In 2010, the Lincoln Rotary Club #14 board of directors established the following policy for matching contributions: For Rotary #14 Rotarians that have never given to The Rotary Foundation, the club will match, dollar for dollar the total initial donation at a minimum level of $100, but not to exceed $500. If a member initially donates less than $100, we will make the match as soon as they achieve the $100 level. For all other club members, the club will match any contribution above the $100 Sustaining Member level per Rotary year (minimum match is $100), but not to exceed $500.

The easiest way to give is via myrotary.org (you will need to set up an account). Your member # appears on the front of your Rotarian magazine, or you can ask Yolanda. You can also bring a check made out to the Rotary Foundation to Tuesday's meeting, and Yolanda will complete the contribution form and send it with your check to RI.

Thank you to Rotarians below who are Sustaining Members with a minimum $100 donation to the Rotary Foundation this Rotary year. Here is a partial list.
You can Stop Human Trafficking
As Rotarian, you have the power to stop human trafficking through Rotary's Hotel-Motel Project. The Hotel-Motel project seeks to eliminate and prevent sex trafficking by educating those in the hospitality industry to recognize when it is happening and to train them on how to respond. In addition, this educational effort is designed to spur cultural change within the general community and among first responders.  We have a training happening right here in Lincoln on February 23, 2019 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 2110 Sheridan Blvd, Lincoln, NE 68502. We need 30 volunteers. Sign up now, click/tap HERE. Questions, please contact Sharon Wherry at sharon.wherry@gmail.com or Dan Wherry at daniel.wherry@gmail.com.

The Hotel-Motel Project is relevant, timely and needed because: (1) There is a high incidence of sex trafficking in hotels-motels; (2) Personnel employed by hotels-motels see first hand what happens within their facility, and, if trained, are able to enhance intervention and prevention; and (3) There is a beginning national trend to criminally and civilly target facilitators of sex trafficking, with common themes including reckless disregard of sex trafficking within the facility, and failure to train facility personnel regarding sex trafficking.
