Yes, we’re all aware of the potholes in our streets. And, yes, we all have snowy and icy street stories to share. But, the issue with the streets in Lincoln is far more involved than the winter we’re all anxious to see in the rearview mirror. Our program on March 12 will feature Miki Esposito, Lincoln’s Director of Transportation and Utilities. She will share the outline and details of a proposed six-year plan to repair and reconstruct many of our streets. Invite your friends to join us for this informative program that will consider the findings of a Citizen Coalition and the proposed sales tax collection to help address current and future infrastructure needs. Check out this report for the details.

The Rotary #14 Mentoring Committee will host a get-together on Thursday, March 21st from 5:00 to 7:00 at University Towers, 128 N 13th St. We'll have drinks and light snacks on hand. We hope you will come with a story to share or questions for current mentors - but that isn't a requirement. All are welcome.

The Nebraska Department of Education certifies our teachers, they review the curriculum taught in our schools and they help us plan for the future of educating our children. Our program on March 19 will feature Dr. Matt Blomstedt, Commissioner of Education for Nebraska. He’ll update us on Nebraska’s schools, future plans being made and the challenges that his Department and the State Board of Education face. Rotary 14 member Patsy Koch Johns is a member of the State Board. Invite friends and colleagues to join us for this informative program. Dr. Blomstedt has served as Nebraska Commissioner of Education since 2014, he’s been involved in research for the Unicameral for many years, and he was on the TEDxLincoln stage in 2017.
An Epic Experience is Waiting for You
We still have tickets for Epic Experiences, part of the fundraising effort from this year’s Rise.Shine.give event. On April 13th you can meander through one of Lincoln’s most charming neighborhoods, Woodshire, enjoy the company of fellow Rotarians and grab a meal, On May 5th you can take in the Lincoln Marathon and breakfast at the home of Randy and Jan Bretz . . . plus so much more. Tickets are available at   Oh, and while you’re there, you can make a donation to our Foundation.
