Presentation: General Evans will talk about leadership in the context of a 35-year military career that culminated at the rank of Major General in the United States Air Force and assignment at the United States Strategic Command.
 
Bio: Major General Richard J. Evans III is a member of  the Nebraska Air National Guard (ANG) serving as the Mobilization Assistant to the Commander, U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt AFB, Neb. He is the principal advisor to the Commander on reserve  component and operational matters related to the command’s diverse missions. General Evans also serves as the Director, Reserve Forces and as Program Manager for the command’s new $1.3B Command and Control Facility at Offutt AFB. General Evans is a native Nebraskan and a graduate from Omaha Northwest High School and the University of Nebraska at Omaha.  He currently serves on the UNO Chancellor’s Military and Veterans Affairs Cabinet and as the USSTRATCOM Rep on the Nebraska Commission on Military and Veterans Affairs. USS Nebraska Crew at Everett
Arranged by IPP Randy Bretz, students at our Adopt-a-School Everett Elementary School got to meet and listen from the atomic submarine USS Nebraska Crew. Rotarians Allen Beermann, Steve Letts, and Everett School Principal Mike Long introduced the kids to the crew. The meet and greet was covered by Channel 8 Nightly News. Thank you, Randy and Rotarians for such a wonderful opportunity for Everett students.
Red Tent Cards on Tables at Rotary
The NEOS committee is glad to announce the Red Tent Card project. Starting Sept. 17th, there will be red tent cards on some tables at Rotary. This is an indication that our Red Badge members are especially welcome to sit at these tables. Rotary 14 Signature Project 2020
The Lincoln Rotary Club 14 is now accepting Letters of Intent from qualified not for profit entities for a grant of $200,000 in honor of the 110th anniversary of the organization in June of 2020. The “Signature Project 2020” submission deadline for the Letter of Intent is October 1, 2019. Applicants need to provide a basic overview of the project or program they are proposing responding to the instructions and the criteria noted.  Upon review of all Letters of Intent, applicants selected to submit a full application will be notified in November with a deadline of January 10, 2020 for the full application. For more information, please contact Rotary Club 14 Foundation “Signature Projects” Committee Chair, Steve Peregrine atsjperegrine@gmail.com or call 402.580.0411.  Read more, click here.
Enroll in Rotary Leadership Institute
All Rotary 14 Rotarians are qualified to enroll in Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI). Please let President Mailani or Yolanda know if you are interested. The club will cover the fee. RLI is a facilitated program with active participation - not lecturing. Topics important to Rotary and Rotary Clubs such as Effective Service Projects, Membership Engagement, and understanding The Rotary Foundation are explored. You will discuss real challenges and exchange ideas. The next session is coming up in October. Click here for more RLI information.
Last Week at Rotary
Last week at Rotary, President Mailani Veney presided the meeting. Randy Hawthorne conducted club business. Maury Halstead was Sgt. at Arms. We had a great time listening to DG Mick McKinley's address to the club. We had several announcements. Todd Crawford, Leslie Huerta, & Ben Martens distributed the Rotary t-shirts. Are you interested in getting in the race for perfect attendance? It's easy and highly doable. TIPS: 1) Attend our weekly meetings, 2) If you miss our weekly meeting, watch our Facebook Live Streaming and get a make up credit, 3) Attend a committee meeting, 4) Attend any of our club activities, 5) Watch out for attendance credits that won't expire from our club big events, such as Nebraskan of the Year, Rise.Shine.Give, and Salute to Business, 6) Attend a nearby Rotary Club and get make up credit, 7) Meet up with 3 or more Rotarians to talk about anything under the heat of the sun for Rotary, 8) Go online and do online make up.
RI Standard: Every 30 minutes to 1 hour of Rotary work is equivalent to 1 attendance credit. Questions, please contact Allen Beermann.
