Bio: Kyle Schneweis has served as the Director of the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) since May of 2015 after being appointed by Governor Pete Ricketts. Since that time, Schneweis has lead the agency's more than 2,100 employees in building and preserving the Nebraska transportation system. Schneweis brought his extensive experience from both the public and private sector to NDOT, and has promoted customer-focused and data-driven approaches to preparing the State of Nebraska to meet the transportation needs of Nebraskans in the 21st century. Under his leadership, NDOT has emphasized transparency and stakeholder engagement with community and industry partners as the department’s made strategic transportation investments to grow Nebraska's economy. Director Schneweis earned his civil engineering degree from the University of North Dakota and is a licensed professional engineer in Nebraska and Kansas. He and his wife Laurel are parents to two boys, Mazlo and Karver.
