PRESENTATION: Inclusion has become a sexy word! But what does it mean? What does it mean to be an inclusive leader? How does it connect with community leadership? Come hear from a person who has lived it, taught it, researched it, and is developing others to do the same!

BIO: Dr. Fagan is a Leadership, Diversity and Inclusion scholar. She is the Director of Leadership Engagement at Rural Futures Institute, a university-wide institute at the University of Nebraska, an Assistant Professor in Leadership Engagement at UNL, the Founder and President of Global Leadership Group, and a qualified Executive Coach.

Helen has a Ph.D. in Human Sciences with an emphasis in Leadership. She studied International Economics and British Political Economy at Oxford University during the formation of the European Union. She is a Certified Diversity Trainer, a Qualified Administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory, and a Certified Emotional Intelligence and Diversity Trainer, and Executive Coach. This year will be the 5th year that Dr. Fagan has been invited to provide workshops for faculty, staff and graduate students working at 6 US universities in Education City in Doha, Qatar.

Dr. Fagan’s expertise in developing inclusive leaders, organizations, and communities have enabled her to speak in multiple nations and at last count 4 continents. Dr. Fagan’s passion is to develop inclusive leaders who create better tomorrows. In 2000, she became the first Coordinator of Diversity and Cultural Competence Initiatives at Bryan Health during which the initiative gained national recognition. During that time, she played a crucial role in the recruitment/resettlement of nurses from the Philippines and worked diligently to address employment and healthcare needs of refugees and immigrants. Because of her dedication, she has received multiple awards including a key to the city of Lincoln.

In 2018, a short film, The Healing of Harman, was released. Dr. Fagan served as Consulting Producer on the film during the writing process and the filming and editing process. The film was directed by the Academy Award nominated Director, Seth Pinkster.
